Women's Volleyball Opens Conference Play With 3-1 Victory at Cerro Coso

RIDGRECREST, Calif. - College of the Desert women's volleyball overcame a loss in set number one by reeling off three consecutive wins to take a 3-1 (14-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18) match victory against Cerro Coso on Wednesday evening in Ridgecrest.

Sophomore Alyssa Cazares (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) led the Lady Roarunners' attack, drilling 15 kills and three service aces, while also recording 12 digs.  Fellow sophomore, Shavonne Lascelle (Palm Springs, Ca/Palm Springs HS), landed nine kills and one service ace, with freshman Angelica Sayo (Palm Desert, CA/Xavier College Prep HS) adding six kills, three aces and four total blocks.

Sophomore Maygan Zink (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) aided the offense with 43 assists, while also recording eight digs and one block assist.  Freshman Kaylie Edgar (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) added  to her lofty defensive numbers, as she notched 24 digs.  

College of the Desert (4-8, 1-0) will continue its Foothill Conference slate this Friday, October 9 when they host visiting San Bernardino Valley at 5:30 p.m.
