Irvine Valley gets tested by Cypress but five-set win extends streak to 39 and keeps Lasers at No. 1 in rankings

PASADENA, Calif. - Irvine Valley fought off a scare in a 5-set win over new #18 Cypress to extend their overall win streak to 39 matches as it remains No. 1 on this week's State Top 25 Rankings. Gavilan leads the state in victories with now 20 to stay at No. 2 and NorCal #1, followed by Bakersfield at No. 3, Cabrillo at No. 4, El Camino at No. 5, Long Beach moves up to No. 6, Hartnell up to No. 7. American River jumps on to the top 10 at No. 8, followed by Fresno City at No. 9 and Moorpark at No. 10 

New teams on the rankings this week: San Diego City at #20 and Fullerton at #25

Milestone Coaching Win: Victor Valley head coach Christa White won her 200th career match on October 8 in a sweep over Glendale

Perfect Set: De Anza did not give up a single point in a rare 25-0 winning set during a sweep over San Jose City. Kayla Thor was the first and only server from start to finish of set 2. She served nine aces and the Dons recorded nine kills during the consecutive point run.

High Score: Chaffey battled through 20 ties with Pasadena City in the opening set of their match to record a wild 36-34 triumph. PCC went on to win the match in 5 sets.
