Irvine Valley is last undefeated team in the state and now sits atop CCCWVCA poll
PASADENA, Calif. - And then there was one...Irvine Valley is the state's last undefeated team and takes the No. 1 spot in this week's CCCWVCA Women's Volleyball State Top 25.
The rankings keep rattling with upsets as now No. 2 Cabrillo's 12-match win streak is stopped by new No. 4 Pierce in a sweep. Despite not playing last week, Grossmont's strength of schedule and two wins over Pierce this year help it move up to No. 3.
No. 5 Bakersfield is upset by No. 17 Moorpark in a sweep. New No. 6 Santa Barbara City swept Pierce earlier in the week for its 10th straight victory. Saddleback climbs to No. 7 while Folsom Lake's giant week with 5-set triumphs over No. 11 Feather River and No. 12 Fresno (dropped all the way from No. 3) puts the Falcons at No. 8. They jumped 8 spots in the rankings. San Joaquin Delta continues to be steady at No. 9 and El Camino, only by virtue of the ripple effects of others wins and losses, is no slouch at No. 10. Another team affected by others but on a roll is No. 13 Sierra, now on a 10-match win streak.
Fresno saw its incredible streak of 81 consecutive sets won in Central Valley Conference play end with a set defeat against Sequoias (won in 4) and then lost another set against Merced (also won in 4). However, the Rams streak of CVC wins is intact at now 85 in a row.
