ELZIE, UHLIROVA, MAPA T&F WINNERS FOR HOST CSM AT BOB RUSH TEAM CHALLENGE

SAN MATEO -- JD Elzie won the men's 100 meters, Mirka Uhlirova took the women's 1,500 meters, and Emma Mapa won the women's shot put for host College of San Mateo at the Bob Rush Team Challenge Friday.The 11-team region-wide meet served as a tune-up for the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships -- which the Bulldogs will host, May 15-16.
Elzie, a freshman from Aragon High, equaled his season best of 11.06 seconds in the 100, running into a headwind. He won handily over Isaiah Griffin (11.27) of American River. CSM's Darren Ndi-Peyou was third in 11.38.
Uhlirova won the 1,500 in 5:16.53, a second off her best.
Emma Mapa was the women's field event star for San Mateo. The freshman out of Aragon High won the shot with a put of 37 feet, 11 1/4 inches, was fifth in the javelin throw (89-2), ninth in the hammer throw (104-2), and 11th in the discus throw (105-4).
Tarney Haussler sprinted 13.76 in the women's 100 and a season best 27.99 in the 200.
Jerry Johnson (from Lincoln, San Francisco) placed second in the men's shot put at 46-9. Matt Rouse was second in the men's 10,000 meters in 33:46.29, a personal best. Chris Kelly was sixth in the men's 400 hurdles in 63.73.
