Chaffey and Folsom Lake showcase unbeaten records in CCCSIA women's soccer poll
SAN BERNARDINO - One more game.
That’s what stands between a pair of women’s soccer teams from finishing the 2022 regular season with undefeated records. But it won’t be easy for two of the top three teams in the California Community College Sports Information Association’s weekly poll.
No. 1 Chaffey finished off its Inland Empire Athletic Conference schedule by clinching the title Friday with a 5-0 win over second place San Bernardino Valley, then picking up a forfeit win over Norco College. The Panthers will finish the season by visiting Pacific Coast Athletic Conference champion, No. 9 Southwestern. Chaffey received six of the nine first place votes in this week’s poll.
Meanwhile, fellow undefeated No. 3 Folsom Lake finishes its season Friday in the championship game of Big 8 Conference postseason tournament. The Falcons received one first place vote.
Santiago Canyon – which has one forfeit loss on its record – sits at No. 2 in the poll, just 10 points behind Chaffey, and five points ahead of Folsom Lake.
The race to close out the top five in the poll remains tight, as two points separate No. 4 Mt. San Antonio and No. 5 San Joaquin Delta, with both teams receiving a first place vote.
The back half of the top 10 is just as tight as the top half. Saddleback sits in the No. 6 spot, three points ahead of No. 7 Long Beach City, and seven points ahead of Orange Empire Conference rival Cypress, which came in at No. 8. No. 9 Southwestern is seven points ahead of No. 10 Allan Hancock.
