Wrestling: Santa Rosa Junior College opens season with a win
On Wednesday night, the Santa Rosa Junior College wrestling team won three matches by fall and another by forfeit to defeat Skyline College, 24-17 in their Coast Conference opener. The Bear Cubs (1-0) will now compete in the Modesto Tournament, while the Trojans (0-1) will also compete in the tournament. The duo of Trevor and Preston Bagan both moved up a weight class to take on Skyline opponents and both emerged with first period falls to secure the win for Santa Rosa. Jacob Larsen scored a fall in 2:49 of the first period to improve his season record to 11-2 with 10 falls. The victory by the Bear Cubs gave head coach Jake Fitzpatrick his 200th career dual meet win as the head coach at Santa Rosa Junior College. The evenings competition started at 165 pounds.
