Palomar College wins Mt. Sac Duals
Walnut, California – Coach Brody Barrios from Palomar College was all smiles as his Comet wrestling team won the dual-meet tournament and left the Mt. Sac gym as the Pool A champions. Palomar went 4-0 in the round robin tournament defeating defending CCCAA Dual-Meet state champions Mt. Sac 24-19. The meeting between Mt. Sac and Palomar went down to the wire. Heavyweight Jared Garcia was up 8-6 in the third period, when he was called for an illegal hold for the fourth time and was disqualified from the match. The six points earned by Palomar in the heavyweight match gave them the win in the meet and the team title. Alberto Garcia (133), Erik Collin (165), Cody Doyle (174) and Alex Graves (184) went undefeated on the day. In pool B competition, Cerritos College who is Coach by Donald Garriott, won the team title. Cerritos overpower the competition outscoring their opponents 156-30. Including a 44-0 win over team runner-up, Sierra College. Gary Howe (125), Dustin Kirk (133), A.J McKee (149), Voris Meeks (157), Keanu Tom (165), Max Kumashiro (184) and Robert Chism (285) went undefeated on the day for the Falcons.
