Six Cougars Golfers Claim All-Conference Honors
The COC women's golf team finished in first place at the WSC Finals, held Sunday and Monday at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena, to win the program's first conference championship since 2010.
Canyons turned in a two-day team score of 682 to finish ahead of second place Santa Barbara City College (759) and third-place finisher Citrus College (770).
Freshman Tiffany Whitaker carded a 166 (82, 84) to lead all Cougars, while sophomore Andrea Webster turned in a score of 82 on Monday to take the team's second spot at 170.
Denmark native Elisabeth Mortensen would finish at 175 (88, 87) while freshman Julia Youn took head coach Gary Peterson's final qualifying spot at 177 (92, 85).
In addition to winning the program's eighth conference title, all six COC golfers have been named to the 2014 All-WSC team — a school first for both the men's and women's golf programs.
Freshman Alexis Miller and sophomore Kathy Quock join Whitaker, Webster, Mortensen and Youn as all-conference selections. COC assistant coach Carla Loomis was named conference coach of the year.
