For the second time in as many years, Los Angeles Trade-Technical College is headed to the CCCAA Women's Basketball Championships.
Saturday night's game against the Mount San Jacinto Eagles looked to be a tough battle on paper, but after conceding the first two baskets of the game the home Beavers went on an 11-0 run and never trailed again, finishing the first quarter with a 34-20 lead.
Despite MSJC out-rebounding the Beavers and turning those offensive boards into 23 second chance points, they also conceded twice as many turnovers as the Beavers, who turned them into 32 points of their own. LATTC led in nearly every other category in offense and ball control, notably with their eight steals and 16 points on fast breaks.
Cheyenne Givens led the Beavers in scoring with 31 points, followed by Cheyenne McKinnie's 20 and Kemanie Patterson's 11. They were helped out by Deejanae Poland's eight rebounds and six assists.
The Beavers head into the CCCAA Championships as the #2 seed from Southern California, and will face San Joaquin Delta (NorCal #3 seed) on Friday, March 15 at 3pm.
