Palomar sweeps first-place votes as top six teams hold poll spots
PASADENA, Calif. - Palomar was the unanimous choice to remain the No. 1-ranked team in this week's 2018 California Community College Sports Information Association State Top 20 Poll. None of the top 6 changed spots with Sierra (#2), Mt. San Jacinto (#3), San Francisco (#4), Sequoias (#5), and Merced (#6) staying entrenched in their high ranks.
Diablo Valley, the only team to solve Sierra thus far this season, is on an 11-game win streak and moves up to No. 7. Fresno City holds on to its No. 8 rank while Mt. San Antonio moved back into the top 10 at No. 9 behind a pair of important victories over No. 18 East Los Angeles and Pasadena City, which fell out of the poll with two defeats. LA Trade climbs to No. 10.
The biggest drop was by No. 11 Irvine Valley, which fell four spots after its 13-game win streak was stopped by No. 16 Cypress, a team that jumped up three places on the poll.
An upset loss to new No. 20 Moorpark dropped Ventura out of the top 10 and down to No. 13.
