MONTEREY – Samantha Earl scored 16 points as West Hills College Lemoore's women's basketball team defeated Monterey Peninsula College 61-35 in an outbracket game in the California Community College playoffs Wednesday.
The Eagles, seeded No. 17, improve to 20-9 on the season with the victory in the first playoff game in the program's three-year history.
Earl, a freshman, added eight rebunds, five assists and three steals.
Kim Alfors, also a freshman, added 11 points, eight rebounds and a steal, while Jayla English, a sophomore from Hanford West, had 12 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
The Eagles led 39-14 at halftime.
WHCL plays at top-seeded College of the Sequoias (27-3) on Saturday.
