COS Blasts Porterville for 14th Straight Win
Corissa Turley and Hannah Ramirez each sank four 3-pointers to fuel the state No. 2-ranked College of the Sequoias women's basketball team to a 74-26 blowout of Porterville in a Central Valley Conference game Wednesday.
The Giants, who on Saturday clinched their first outright CVC title since the 1994-95 season, shot 35.9% (23 of 64) from the field and 40% (14 of 35) on 3-pointers.
COS held the Pirates to eight points in the second half as the Giants won their 14th game in a row.
Ramirez finished with 15 points and Turley 13 to lead the Giants. Deja Manning led the Pirates with 10. The Giants finish the regular season with an overall record of 27-3 after going unbeaten in conference play at 12-0.
• Fresno City rolled past Taft 105-78, bouncing back from a 76-69 loss to COS on Saturday.
Sara Vasquez and Jordan Whitfield each scored 18 points to fuel the No. 18-ranked Rams (20-9, 8-3). Whitfield made five 3-pointers. The Rams close the regular season vs. West Hills-Lemoore at 7 p.m. Saturday.
• West Hills-Lemoore rolled to a 56-47 win at Merced to complete a season sweep of the Blue Devils.
