COS women top Fresno City
The College of the Sequoias women's basketball team took full control of the Central Valley Conference with a 62-53 win over rival Fresno City College on Wednesday at Porter Field House in Visalia.
COS (20-3, 5-0), ranked No. 2 in the state and No. 1 in Northern California, remains undefeated in CVC play while Fresno City (14-8, 2-2) falls 2.5 games out of first place. The Rams are the only other CVC team in the state rankings at No. 19 and check in at No. 8 in Northern California.
Reedley, which lost to COS 71-48 in its CVC opener but defeated Fresno City 65-61, remained one game out of first place with a 59-37 win over Merced.
Corissa Turley (Redwood) and Alexandria Tobie (Monache) led the Giants with 15 points each. Latique Walton scored 14. Tobie added 15 rebounds and four blocks. Turley made nine rebounds.
Jasmine Black (Redwood) — Fresno City's third leading scorer for the season with nine points per game — only scored two points for the Rams.
The COS men defeated West Hills 74-68. Chris Ross scored 20 points. Brantley Bynum scored 18.
