Santa Ana's Rosas and West Valley's Williams pick up first 3CFCA softball honors of 2020
GLENDORA - The 2020 CCCAA softball season is underway and the 3CFCA has announced their first honors of the year with Emily Rosas of Santa Ana College earning Pitcher of the Week accolades and Cayla Williams of West Valley named Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
Pitcher of the Week - Emily Rosas - Santa Ana College - Sophomore – RHP
Santa Ana College sophomore starting pitcher Emily Rosas is the Week #1 California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Pitcher of the Week. The righty opened up the 2020 season with a pair of wins, giving up no-hits and just one walk through two starts. In 7.2 innings worth of work, Rosas struck out 12 total batters, and was part of a combined no-hitter in a 10-0 win over visiting Citrus College. The sophomore started her career at the University of North Dakota in 2019, before returning home to the Dons in 2020. Rosas prepped at Villa Park High School.
Player of the Week - Cayla Williams - West Valley College - Freshman - RHP
West Valley College Cayla Williams is the Week #1 California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week. Williams kicked off the 2020 season by going 2-0 in the circle and going 9-for-11 at the plate. While pitching Williams gave up just three earned runs over 12 innings of work, while striking out 19 total batters. While batting, Williams drove in six runs, scored four times, and had three extra-base hits including a pair of doubles and a home run. Williams prepped at Santa Teresa High School and hails from San Jose, CA.
