Riverside Men Win Golden West Invitational
The RCC Tigers men's XC team won their first race of the season with a victory at the Golden West Invitational at Central Park. The Tigers are currently ranked 2nd in southern California and they ran with great depth like they have all season. The Tigers top finisher was Joshua Silva who placed 4th in the field of 180 runners with a time of 21:14. The key to the Tigers victory was the 20 second gap between our 2nd and 5th runners. Michael Simpson(11th 21:47)was the second finisher for the Tigers. Anthony Arvizu was 3rd (13th 21:56), Jeronimo Brito was 4th (14th 21:57), Cristian Malloy was 5th (18th 22:07). "The guys followed the race plan quite well with the top 5 in the top 18 ovetall, and they did that with two of our usual top five out with injuries. It's great to see other guys step up. Depth is always good to have." Coach McCarron
The Tigers next meet will be on October 9th at the new Riverside cross country course on the corner of Orange Street and Columbia.
