Former RCC Tiger breaks World DMR Record
Brandon Johnson, a former RCC Tiger on the 2011-2012 cross country team, was the 800 meter leg in the USA's world record breaking Distance Medley Relay at the IAAF World Relays this weekend. Brandon's split was 1:44.7. The USA record breaking team ran 9:15.50, besting Kenya's world record by .06 seconds. After Brandon finished two seasons with the Tigers, RCC's world renown middle distance coach, Abdul Morceli, trained Brandon. Under coach Morceli, Brandon ran sub 1:44 five times and was one of the top ten 800 meter runners in the world. With all his hard work, Brandon earned a four year contract with Nike.
