Pacheco Places 7th In Decathlon on National Stage
Competing against some of the best junior decathletes in the nation at the USA Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Oregon, Hartnell College freshman Chase Pacheco was able to place seventh overall. Pacheco earned his opportunity to compete in the championship meet by surpassing the requisite 6500 points twice during the season. Pacheco, who prepped at Palma High School, was the Northern California and CCCAA Champion with both scores over the 6500.
On day one, Pacheco placed second overall in the 100 meters (10.99), third in the long jump (22'8.50"), and fourth in the 400 meters (50.78) for his highest placings. On Day two, his highest event placing were fifths in the discus (129'8") and 1500 meters (4:52.54). Pacheco's total point score was 6765 points. The overall winner was Harrison Williams of Stanford University with 8001 points.
This was the first time since 2008 that Hartnell College was represented at the USA Junior Outdoor Championship.
