Hartnell’s Decker wins state pole vault again

Austin Decker became the first Hartnell athlete to win back-to-back titles Saturday at the state track and field championship meet at Mt. San Antonio College.
Decker, a sophomore from North Monterey County High, won the pole vault for the second time with a leap of 16-6 3/4. His jump was six inches better than the runner-up.
In the men's 1,500 meters Michael Ramirez of Hartnell was ninth at 4:03.46 and teammate Justin Carrancho was 10th at 4:08. In the 5,000 meter Ramirez eighth at 14:59.
For the Hartnell women Iesha Boyd was fifth in the 400 meters at 56.64 .
The Hartnell men placed 22nd out of 33 teams and the women were 17th out of 41.
