Shasta College's Scribner takes first in discus at state meet
Shasta College's Erik Scribner set a school record Saturday when he finished in first place in discus at the California Community College Athletic Association's track and field championships at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
Scribner, a Central Valley High School grad, also set a personal record when he threw the discus at 189 feet, 10 inches.
Scribner took seventh place in the hammer (174-07) and eighth in the shot put (49-11.75).
"He hit the podium three times," Knights coach Pete Giachetti said.
The Knights' Luke Wright was 11th in the javelin (172.10) while Jacob Barker was 12th in shot put (46-02.75).
On the women's side, Katie Brummett was fifth in the shot put (38-11.5).
"We had a pretty good showing for a little school," Giachetti said of the Friday-Saturday meet.
