Riverside Wins OEC Finals
The Riverside Community College men's track and field team won its 8th straight Orange Empire conference championship today at Fullerton College. The Tigers score 348 points, 100 and three points more than second place finisher Orange Coast College who scored 245 points. Just'n Thymes won 3 events he ran 10 39 in 100 meters and 21 08 and the 200 meters and also was the second leg in the 4 by 4 x100 meter relay. Gabriel Vargas set a conference record in the shot put with a throw 57 feet. Mathew Vasel took the conference table in the 400 meters with a time of 49.11. Keithyon Moten ran a personal best in the 110 high hurdles clocking 14.60 to take the title. Jacob Porter was victorious in the 400IH with a time of 53.54. Scott Davis was the steeplechase champion with a time of 9 minutes and 54 seconds. The 4 x100 and the 4x400 relays easily earned conference titles running 41.7 and 3:17 respectively. Ismael Stevenson won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet 6 inches. AJ Hop broke the school record in the with this bus 16 feet 2 half inches to take the conference title. Connor Einck threw 157'10' to take the conference title in the discus. Phillip Bailey was the conference champion in the decathlon with a score of 6690. The decatlon was contested last month for the conference title. "This team carried on the tradition of winning the Orange Empire Conference..championship. We are very proud of them and we feel like this team can do something very special and possibly win another state championship." Coach McCarron
The toasters will host the southern california prelim san championships for the first time in history on May 2-3 and May 9-10. it should be a fantastic 2 weekends the tigers will be looking towhen it's third consecutive southern California championship.
