RCC Men's Track and Field Team Won its 5th State Championship in 6 years
Under windy conditions at San Mateo Community College, the RCC mens track and field team won its fifth state championship in six years scoring the highest point total in the 62 history of California Community College track and field by scoring 151 points. The Tigers broke the record of 143 points that was set by Taft Community College in 1985.

The Tigers had 3 individual champions. Luis Gutirrez won the 1500m in a time of 3:51 and placed 2nd in the 800 meters running 1:51. John Gunman won the 10000 meters in 30:21, and was second in the 5000 meters. Justin Thymes won the 200 meters running 21:42 and placed 2nd in the 100 meters.
Philip Bailey, Jordan Morris, and Chris Navarro went 3-5 scoring 15 points in the decathlon for the Tigers. Chris Navarro was also third in the javelin throwing 192'10', and he took forth in the 110 HH. Jordan Morris placed third in the 110HH. Connor Einck took third in the shot and fourth in the discus.
The Tigers scored in 19 of the 21 events contested and had 23 All Americans! The second place team on the men's side was Mt. Sac with 60 points, and San Diego Mesa was third withThe women finished third overall with 54 points.
On the women's side Cerritos College won the title. Mt. Sac was second and the lady Tigers took third. Jessika Bird defended her hammer title throwing a a new state meet record of 195' 10" , and Fatima Vegara won the discussion with a toss of 149'11".
