Top-Ranked Desert Turns in Dominant Pacific Coast Performance

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -- Top-ranked College of the Desert men's golf shot its second straight round under par, as their superb, six-under team score of 354 earned them yet another first-place finish in Monday morning's Pacific Coast Conference match in Desert Mirage. Conference rival, Mt. San Jacinto, finished second with a score of 378, while the COD total was the lowest ever recorded at Desert Island in program history.
Sophomore Mike Schaloum (Settle, WA/O'Dea HS) led head coach Tony Manzoni's Roadrunners with a 66, followed by sophomore Sam Jackson's (Santa Cruz, CA/Harbor HS) 70 and sophomore Michael Starbuck's (Highland, CA/Citrus Valley HS) 71.
Sophomores Ryan Emery (Burford, GA/Granite Hills HS) and Kenzo Vlassaks (Hasslet, BEL/Topsportschool Hasselt) were the final two cogs in the COD machine, shooting a 73 and 74, respectively.
College of the Desert men's golf will be back on the course tomorrow afternoon for a Pacific Coast Conference match at Sycuan Golf Course in El Cajon.
