SAN MATEO, Calif. - Nick Adgar homered in the second inning to give College of San Mateo an early 1-0 lead and the Coast Golden Gate Conference pacesetting Bulldogs blanked visiting City College of San Francisco 9-0 on Saturday.
Chris Papapietro and Everett Lau each had three hits and two RBI's.
Starting pitcher Jared Milch had his longest outing of the season, seven innings, to pick-up his second win. He allowed just two hits and had three strikeouts in the blanking. Wyatt Tucker and Andreas Papageorge each pitched an inning of relief, with a total of three more K's.
CSM (20-5) has won eight of its last nine games and is ranked No. 3 in the state (tops in Northern California) in the current Massey (computer) Rankings. The Bulldogs are No. 2 in Northern California in the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association poll. CSM is 8-1 in Golden Gate play. Sixth place CCSF (6-16, 1-7) visits San Mateo again on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
Second place De Anza (13-11, 5-2) is three games back in the win column and one in the loss column – with both league losses coming from CSM.
Brandon Hernandez, Anders Green and Lau all hit doubles in Saturday's game. Adgar batted in two runners and scored twice.
