ORTIZ THROWS A COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT

The FC baseball squad won their home opener 1-0 against Palomar College on Thursday afternoon.
Fullerton College President, Dr. Greg Schulz, threw out the game's first pitch in what Coach Nick Fuscardo has deemed the "President's Game". He tossed a perfect strike for those who want to know. SEE IT HERE.
The win boosts Fullerton's record to 2-0 overall, while the loss lands Palomar at 1-3 overall.
The lone run of the game came in the third inning on a hard-hit shot down the left field line by LF Austin O'Banion. O'Banion hustled his way to a double scoring CF Joey Parente.
Coming up big for the Hornets was starting sophomore pitcher Randall Ortiz who threw 9 complete scoreless innings. Ortiz allowed only 4 Comet hits and had 11 strikeouts on the day. Nine of those K's were looking, including the final at bat of the game.
O'Banion went 2-3 at the plate with a RBI and a walk. Laine Huffman was 2-4 with a nice triple. Zac Huerta andJosh Balbuena also went 2-4.
Up Next: The Hornets (2-0) will play again at home on Tuesday, February 9th against Grossmont College. Game time will be at 2:00 pm.
