Napa Valley's Mateo Fernandez had a career game vs Mendocino throwing a No-Hitter along with no walks and just one minor setback on an error by 2nd baseman, Dallas Cota. Later in the inning Cota was able to turn the double play to elimate the sole runner the Eagles had all day.
Mateo had nine strikeouts on the day on 81 pitches and needed just 14 pitches in the 9th to finish the game. Napa Head Coach Bob Freschi said, "Mateo was pounding the zone with a great fastball and slider."
With this victory, Napa hands Mendocino its first loss in conference and both teams have a 4-1 record in Bay Valley play. These teams play again on Saturday at 1:00pm, this time at the Mendocino College Campus in Ukiah, CA.
