Beach Volleyball Season Ends at State

IRVINE, Calif. --- The El Camino College beach volleyball team saw its 2022 season come to a close this past weekend at the CCCAA State Championships hosted by Irvine Valley College.

On Thursday, the Warriors went 0-2 in the team state championships, falling 5-0 to Cabrillo and 4-1 to Irvine Valley.

The Warriors entered the day as the No. 3 seed in Pool B and opened the action against North No. 1 seed Cabrillo. The team could get nothing on the board and were swept in a match for just the third time this season.

In their final match of the day, the Warriors closed out the season the way it began; with a match against Irvine Valley. The Lasers swept the Warriors in the opening match of the 2022 season and the Warriors were looking to avenge that loss, but came up short in a 4-1 defeat to end their year.

The Warriors finished the season with a 22-5 overall record, a new program best for wins in a season.

On Friday and Saturday, the Warriors top duo of Fayth Rascon and Lauren McCarthy took to the courts to try and score a pairs state championship.

Entering the weekend as the No. 4 seed from the South and No. 7 overall, the duo went 2-1 on Friday to advance to the round of 16 on Saturday.

Unfortunately, their season came to an end there as they fell to the duo of Tainea Allen and Jordon Wilson of Cypress. It was a tightly contested match but the Warriors came up short in two sets; 22-20, 21-19.
