College of the Canyons completed a three-game conference sweep over Antelope Valley College with the Cougars scoring a combined 47 runs, including a season high 23 in game two, to extend its win streak to four games.
Canyons (16-10, 9-3) opened the series with a 15-3 road victory at AVC at the Cougars' lineup pounded out 15 hits and worked nine walks. Andrew Allanson and Andy Ambriz both connected on home runs in the game as COC recorded seven extra base hits in the game. Charie Rocca led with three RBIs, one of four players to drive home multiple runs, and Xavier Stoker came in to earn the win after four strong innings from starter Tyler Biggs.
In the second affair it was COC opening up a 10-0 first inning lead and then holding on to outleast the Marauders in a wild high-scoring game that finished in a 23-16 final score. The Cougars recorded eight doubles, along with a ripple from Isaiah Dominguez and a homer by Jake Schwartz. Catcher Dane Flashberg had a team-high five RBIs and Rocca was close behind with four of his own.
In the finale Canyons emerged with a 9-7 victory after Schwartz walked of the Marauders (10-17, 3-9) with another big knock in the home half of the ninth.
COC will begin a three-game outing at the annual Allan Hancock spring tourney running April 5-7. The Cougars are slated to take on Merced College in Wednesday's 2 p.m. opener followed by a meeting vs. East L.A. College at 11 a.m. on Thursday. The action concludes at noon Friday, April 7 vs. Fresno City College.
