Warriors Down Orange Coast on the Road

El Camino College scored an impressive road victory Thursday afternoon, defeating Orange Coast 7-2 in Costa Mesa.

The Warriors swept the doubles portion of the match to take a quick 3-0 lead. Kayla Brown and Leah Phillips scored a quick 8-1 victory in their match to give ECC its first point and then Amanda Hidalgo and Jay Gomez followed suit with an 8-1 win in the No. 3 match for a 2-0 lead.

The No. 1 team of Lindsay Giese and Kekoa Vaefa had the biggest challenge in their doubles match but scored an 8-6 win to give the Warriors a big 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

The Warriors would clinch the match early as Jay Gomez won by default in the No. 6 match and then Vaefa cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 match to clinch the match.

Giese suffered her first loss of the season in the No. 1 match, falling 6-2, 6-1.

The Warriors will continue their road swing on Tuesday at Saddleback.
