After a rough loss on Friday, Citrus College bounced back with an 8-5 victory over Saddleback College Monday afternoon.

The Owls improve to 2-2 on the year, while the Bobcats fall to 1-2.

Seven Owls had hits in the game, with three knocking multiple on the day. Samantha Meyndert (two runs, one RBI) and Desiree Loza (one run, three RBIs) each went 3-for-4 for Citrus, while Leah Morales finished 2-for-3 with one run scored.

Citrus got on the board first in the top of the second, plating three runs on just one hit. The Bobcats grabbed two quick outs, but the Owls rallied and put runners on second and third. Torie Brewer swung on a third strike, but the Saddleback catcher missed the ball, allowing Brewer to stay alive and both Marissa Gallegos and Alexis Cordero to come home, 2-0. Jillian Walker then drilled a triple deep in right field to score Brewer, 3-0.

The Owls increased their lead to 5-0 after Loza and Gallegos had back-to-back RBI doubles in the top of the third.

Saddleback managed to score a run in both the bottom of the third and fourth innings, but the visitors weren't done yet and added three more runs in the top of the sixth. With two outs and runners on the corners, Meyndert knocked an RBI single to center field to spark a two-out rally. Loza followed with a double to the gap right of center field, allowing two more runs to come in, 8-2.

The Bobcats tried to rally in their last two chances at the plate and managed to score two runs in the seventh, but the Owls grabbed the third out before Saddleback could get too much momentum.

Citrus continues a busy week of three games in five days on Wednesday, heading to Chaffey College for a 2:30 p.m. contest. The Owls close out the week on Friday at home, hosting Golden West, also at 2:30 p.m.
