WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: OUT-WRESTLING THE RUSTLERS

The Hornets chalked one up in the win column at home Wednesday night defeating Golden West College 70-46 in a conference match-up.

Fullerton's win places the team alone in second place in the Orange Empire Conference after Cypress College stumbled last Friday night at Riverside City. The Rustler loss keeps them winless in the OEC with a record of 0-8.

Golden West came out hot downing two three-pointers by Jackie Navarro. Only a few minutes into the game, and the Hornets found themselves down 7-2.

The momentum quickly changed as Fullerton went on a big 12-0 run snatching a 14-7 lead on a three by Moriah Serrano by the 4:27 mark. FC did not let up for the remainder of the game outshooting the Rustlers 35.8% to 26.1%.

The Hornet defense was clicking on all cylinders running a full court press that forced 26 turnovers. Fullerton was able to convert 21 points off of those turnovers.

Angela Zendejas had a game-high 20 points (her season-best) with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Hannah Jones managed 11 points with 8 rebounds, while Sydney Nekola came off the bench to score 10 points with 3 steals. Katie Salas and Destiny Goodloe both put up 6 points each. Moriah Serrano and Celise Moreno both scored 5 points a piece.

Up Next: The Hornets (14-8 overall, 6-2 conference) will play at Saddleback College this Friday, February 7th at 5:00 pm.
