Taylor’s Late Score Propels Warriors to Win over Golden West

TORRANCE, Calif. --- Sophomore Angelica Taylor found the back of the net late on Friday afternoon as El Camino College edged Golden West 1-0 in a non-conference match at the ECC Soccer Field.

Taylor's goal broke a scoreless draw with just minutes left in the game. It was her fourth goal of the season, which leads the Warriors (5-2-1).

Karlee Clark recorded her third shutout of the season as she made six saves in net. Allison Sibley recorded the assist on Taylor's goal, her first career assist as a member of the Warriors.

For the Rustlers (3-3-0), goalkeeper Chloe Miller made six saves in a losing effort.

The Warriors dominated play in the first half but had nothing to show for it thanks to Miller, who made five of her saves in the first half. The Rustlers defense also saved a goal after Miller was beaten on a breakaway by Sibley, whose touch past the keeper refused to cross the line before Jasmine Edalati cleared the ball just inches from the goal line.

The second half was another story as the Rustlers turned up the pressure, forcing Clark to make three saves. They allowed the Warriors just four shots total in the final 45 minutes with only two on target, but it was the last shot that mattered.

Taylor and Sibley created a 2-on-1 break in Rustlers territory. A quick pass from Taylor to Sibley was just as quickly returned on the give-and-go and Taylor used her speed to beat the defense and then fired a high shot from just inside the 18-yard box that powered its way through the hands of Miller and found the back of the net.

The Warriors will now hit the road on Tuesday for a non-conference match against Pasadena with kickoff set for 2 p.m. It will be the Warriors' final non-conference tilt of the year.
