Rhiannon Underhill mastered the College of the Redwoods with an eight-strikeout, one-hit complete game as West Valley topped the Corsairs 4-0 in game two of Friday's non-conference doubleheader. The Vikings (6-3) run-ruled Modesto Jr. College 11-1 in the morning game, thanks to an eight-run first inning.

Underhill did not give up a hit until the top of the seventh, allowing just a single Corsair baserunner on a third inning walk. She set Redwoods (3-3) down in order in five of her seven innings pitched. The Vikings got all the runs they would need with three in the second inning on a two-run triple from Alaysia Clincy, who would come home on a Redwoods throwing error. Isabella Gallegos drove in an insurance run with a sixth-inning single that scored Emma Courtney.

WVC sent 12 batters to the plate in their eight-run first against Modesto (4-6). The Vikings sandwiched four singles around four Pirate walks, with Abigail Desa, Bella Sweet and Kaylee Ramirez all collecting RBI one-baggers. Courtney and Sydney Heming earned bases-loaded walks for back-to-back RBI. Kassady Alcazar ripped a two-run double to left-center to knock in Ramirez and Sweet in the bottom of the third. Alcazar would score  four batters later on a bases-loaded walk to Reyna Cruz.

Sweet and Ramirez both finished the day 3-3, while Miranda Torres picked up the win in the circle, scattering three singles and striking out three in four innings pitched. Shelby Wright earned the save with a pair of K's in a single inning of relief.
