Men's Soccer Bested by Oxnard in Regular Season Finale

SANTA BARBARA, CA – In a wild back-and-forth affair with Oxnard on Friday, the SBCC men's soccer team was defeated 5-3 at home to close out the regular season.

The Vaqueros (10-5-5, 5-4-1) took two separate leads in the first half, first on a 16th minute penalty by Timo Jansen after Dylan Rogers was taken down in the box. The Condors (17-1-1, 10-0) equalized seven minutes later.

In the 32nd minute, forward Bart Muns turned Oxnard over in midfield and gave it to Will Demirkol, who made no mistake that he was putting his chance away with a fiery shot into a perfect spot in the low left corner of the net, making it 2-1.

However, it would be all Oxnard down the final stretch. The Condors tied it on a set piece in the opening minutes of the half and added another in the 64th to take a 3-2 lead. Sasha Halabi tied the match at 3-3 with his fourth goal of the season in the 73rd.

The final 11 minutes went Oxnard's way, with Emmanuel Solis scoring twice to seal the Condors' 12th consecutive victory.
