Falcons Fall in Five-Set Heartbreaker at Ohlone

Fremont, Calif. - The Solano women's volleyball team fell in a five-set heartbreaker at Ohlone on Wednesday evening.

Set scores were 25-14, 9-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-13.

Freshman Sammy Brown paced all hitters with 20 kills. Freshman Dani Rydjord was close behind with 18, and both sophomore Mylei Moli and Chris Rigney Cruz counted 11 kills apiece.

Cruz and freshman Gina Garlick each counted three blocks, while sophomore Kailyn Kaiser led the backcourt defense with 23 digs, adding a pair of aces. Moli tallied 19, Brown chipped in 18, Rydjord tallied 15, and freshman Jeryn Baldonado earned 14 digs. Baldonado also earned a double-double with 48 assists.

"It was a tough match to lose, but it was fun to watch the intense play all around," Solano women's volleyball head coach Darla Williams said. "We found our groove with solid passing and solid hitting. We have one last Classic before we head into conference play next week."

Solano (6-10) returns home to host the Solano Classic #3 on Friday, Sept. 24. The Falcons will face West Hills-Lemoore first at 2 p.m. before Feather River at 4 p.m. Spectators are welcome, but masks are required.
