Despite facing some adversity, Citrus College dug deep and grabbed a 7-5 victory over Rio Hondo College to cap four games in four days.

The Owls improve to 7-3 with their second win in a row, while the Roadrunners drop to 7-3 after snapping a three-game winning streak.

Citrus took the lead with two early runs, capitalizing in the first and second innings, but some defensive blunders let the visitors back into the game with four runs in the top of the fifth, 4-2.

The Owls shook it off and answered back with three runs to jump back in front. Patty Rodriguez (2-for-4, one run, three RBIs) got things going with a two-run bomb before Marissa Gallegos (2-for-2) drilled a base hit to left field and Marissa Ramirez came home on some aggressive base running, 5-4.

Rio Hondo tied the game in the top of the sixth with one run, but once again the Owls had a response. With one out and runners on first and third, Jillian Walker came home on a passed ball before Rodriguez drove Jasani Zavalza in with a base hit up the middle to tack on some insurance.

Just needing three outs to secure the win, Samantha Meyndert (five strikeouts, two earned runs) and her defense took down the Roadrunners in order to end the game.

The Owls get some much-needed rest before resuming Western State Conference-South action on Tuesday at Bakersfield College. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
