KNIGHTS BEAT SOLANO TO END SKID

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College softball team snapped its seven-game losing streak with a 7-1 win over Solano College in Fairfield on Saturday.

The win comes at the end of the week, which included losing a doubleheader to San Jose 2-1 and 8-0 on Friday and falling to Cosumnes River on Saturday 8-0.

Shasta College is 6-8 overall and 0-1 in Golden Valley Conference play and hosts Lassen College and Redwoods in GVC doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.

Shasta 7, Solano 1
The Knights blew the game open with a six-run third inning, highlighted by an RBI double by Jacelyn Parratt. Carli Lewis struck out six, walked none and allowed one unearned run on seven hits. Tara George was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run, Lewis was 1 for 4 with two RBIs and a run, Destinee Baird had a double and two runs, Alyssa Kosta was 1 for 4 with an RBI and a run and Reilly Rupert drove in a run.

Cosumnes River 8, Shasta 0 (5) @ Solano
The Knights compiled three hits, one each from Erica Parent, George and Reese Bertain. Parent added a stolen base in the loss. Rupert took the defeat in the circle, allowing eight runs – six earned – on 11 hits in four innings.

San Jose 2, Shasta 1
The Knights led 1-0 going into the bottom of the seventh but gave up a pair of solo home runs to lose in the opening game of Friday's doubleheader. Rupert took the loss in the circle for the Knights and had one of their four hits, going 1 for 3 with a double and a run. Lindsey Beck, George and Baird each had a hit.

San Jose 8, Shasta 0 (5)
San Jose's Stefanie Troja improved to 8-1 while throwing a perfect game. San Jose scored three in the second and four in the third. Lewis took the loss, striking out one, walking two. She gave up eight runs, seven earned, on six hits in four innings.
