Citrus College hosted Mt. San Antonio College to start the new season but fell in three sets (25-22, 25-13, 25-21).

The Owls begin the year 0-1, while the Mounties, who went to regionals last year, start 1-0.

Caren Stone and Sabrina Evangelista each posted seven kills for the Owls, followed by Gabriella Aguilar, who had six kills on the night. Aguilar also had two blocks for Citrus. Vanessa Marquez moved the offense for Citrus and finished with 24 assists.

Defensively, Alexis Aguayo had seven digs, while Evangelista added six.

Citrus looks to bounce back as it hosts Orange Coast College on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. contest.
