Vikings pound out 26 hits in 8-0, 10-1 wins at Porterville to move to 4-0

The West Valley softball team moved to 4-0 on the season with a pair of run-rule wins at Porterville Saturday. The Viking offense pounded out 26 hits on the day, while WVC pitchers recorded 16 K's in only 11 innings of work.
 
West Valley took the opener 8-0 in six behind a dominant overall performance by Cayla Williams. Williams was 4-4 with a double and two RBI and got the complete-game win in the circle, scattering three hits and striking out 10 Pirates. Lily Chavez was also 4-4 with two RBI and two stolen bases. Zoe Mendez knocked in two with a pair of doubles, while Sierra Hillman was 3-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
 
America Maples hurled a six-strikeout one-hitter in the 10-1 five-inning second game. Chavez stayed hot, going 2-2 with two RBI. Sierra Hillman went 3-4 with two RBI, while sister Hannah Hillman had an RBI double.
 
The Vikings host perennial NorCal power San Joaquin Delta (4-0) Tuesday (2/4) in the 2020 home opener. First pitch is 3:00pm.
