Jags Lose Second Game of Rain-Delayed Doublehader to Falcons
By Malaya Street
After the Jags (5-5 Coast) scored one run in the fifth inning, the Folsom Lake Falcons' pitcher shut down the Jags and only allowed two hits total.
In the first inning, the Falcons (4-7 Big 8) took advantage of the first two walks of the game and drove them home to lead 2-0.
Bottom of the fifth inning, Deja Jimenez walked to first by a hit-by-pitch, followed by Karissa Smith hitting a line drive to the left-center gap.
Lareina Solis had a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third. Melissa Felix hit the ball over the shortstop's head, scoring one run, but Smith got thrown out at home.
Smith made her pitching debut by grounding out her first two batters, but the Falcons scored one more run after the Jags made an error.
The Falcons had another opportunity in the third inning to score with bases loaded, but Kiya Sandoval got the force out at home. Then after a pass ball to the backstop, Bella Giambruno tossed the ball to Alaina Valdez, who tagged the runner out at home.
This game was originally a doubleheader but was rescheduled after a rain delay on Feb. 4, where the Jags beat the Falcons 4-3 in the first game.
Coming up, the Jags play a doubleheader against Santa Rosa on 2/21 at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
