COD (4-1; 2-0) swept the Cerritos Falcons (1-6; 0-1) in doubles play, falling once in singles play.

Leading off in doubles play for Desert was the team of Shekinah Daffon (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Hannah Johnson (Palm Springs H.S.) who downed the first pair of Falcons, 8-4. The team of freshman Agustina Berrondo (Tucumán (ARG) Institute Hermanas Esclavas) and freshman Kiara Bragg (Rancho Mirage H.S.) and the team of sophomore Sariah Sanchez (Indio Shadow Hills) and sophomore Emily Gallegos (Desert Hot Springs H.S.), all won their matches, 8-5.

In singles play, neither Daffon nor Berrondo allowed the Falcons to land a single point, each winning, 6-0 and 6-0. Bragg effortlessly won in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3, while Millan finished her match in similar fashion, also winning in two sets, 6-3 and 6-1. With the last victory for the Roadrunners, Gallegos sealed her win in an extra set, 6-4, 5-7, and 10-2.

The next match for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be at home in Palm Desert on February 25th at 2p, where they will continue South Coast Conference play against the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville.

College of the Desert defeated Cerritos, 8-1 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
