Softball Remains Perfect, Defeat Saddleback 10-2 and 11-1

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress Chargers softball (9-0, 8-0 OEC) defeated Saddleback College (5-4, 4-4 OEC) in their second double-header of the week on Friday afternoon. The Chargers remain undefeated on the season after winning in dominant fashion, 10-2 and 11-2. 

GAME 1

Paige Shafer (1-for-2) led the way with three RBI's for Cypress. Sarah Duran (1-for-1) reached base in all three of her plate appearances. Eliza Sandoval got the start on the mound and gave up four hits over 3.1 innings pitched. Marilyn Franciso (1-for-2, BB) of Saddleback recorded the lone RBI of the game. 

Cypress scored early and often scoring nine runs in the first two innings. After a battle at the plate, Paige Shafer tripled in the bottom of the first to clear the bases. Sarah Duran, Eliza Sandoval, and Cameron Curiel all singled in the second inning putting up a run on the board. Saddleback would score their first run of the game on a double steal in the bottom of the third inning. Marilyn Franciso of Saddleback followed with a double to right field making the score, 9-2. Cypress tacked on one more run in the bottom half of the third, and went on to win, 10-2. 

GAME 2

Paige Shafer (3-for-3) stayed hot knocking in two more runs for the Chargers. Emily Rush (2-for-2, 3 runs, 1 RBI) did it all for Cypress starting the game on the mound throwing three shutout innings while only giving up one hit. Camryn Addimando (2-for-3) added an RBI and pitched the final four outs of the game.

Cypress was warmed up for game two and got the hitting started with a triple from Emily Rush in the bottom of the first as Jordan Thompson (1-for-3) came in to score. Paige Shafer hit a triple of her own to right field bringing in Sarah Duran. The Chargers would give up a run in the second inning before putting up six more runs. Camryn Addimando doubled in the third inning scoring Emily Rush. The Chargers moved base-to-base all game, defeating Saddleback, 11-1. 

 

UP NEXT: Cypress will be back on the road Wednesday, May 5, to take on Santa Ana. The Chargers will be playing two games, first pitch at 1pm.
