No. 7 Vaqueros will open playoffs at No. 2 Orange Coast

SBCC was seeded No. 7 for the CCCAA State men's volleyball tournament and will travel to No. 2 Orange Coast on Friday for a quarterfinal match at 6 p.m.

The Vaqueros went 12-5 and finished second in the WSC North at 4-2. This is their first trip to the playoffs in seven years. Orange Coast (18-2) is the defending state champion and has won 13 straight matches.

The Pirates captured the Orange Empire Conference title with an 8-0 record. OCC swept the Vaqueros 25-18, 25-19, 25-16 on March 7 in Costa Mesa.

Kyle Skinner, a 6-4 outside hitter, leads the Vaqueros with 198 kills, the fifth-best total in the state. Misaki Cramer is fourth in the state in digs with 155

Unbeaten Long Beach (19-0) was seeded No. 1 and will host San Diego Miramar. No. 6 El Camino will play at No. 3 Irvine Valley and No. 5 Fullerton travels to No. 4 L.A. Pierce.
