Olympians rebound with 4-1 win against Hope International

After dropping their first match of the day 0-5 against Nebraska, the San Diego Mesa College beach volleyball team rebounded with a convincing 4-1 win against Hope International University.

"Our team stepped up to the challenge, especially coming off our game against Nebraska," states assistant coach Flavia Virgili. "We are proud of how we played and it was a good day for learning and growing."

Similar to the Nebraska game, this match was a lot closer than what the score reflected. The difference was taking advantage of opportunities and being able to close out the set when it presented itself.

"Our #3 and #4 were able to close out the match in two sets while our #5 and #1 went the distance going three. "They all battled for the win," adds Virgili. "It wasn't easy but with a good attitude and the amazing effort, we came out on top."

Next up for the Olympians will be an important match against conference rival Grossmont College. Grossmont is currently 9-4 overall and like Mesa, 2-0 in the conference. Match is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
