WALNUT, Calif. --- The El Camino College duo of Kekoa Vaefa and Julia Jones will be in contention for the CCCAA Women's Tennis Doubles State Championship after advancing to the semifinals on Friday.

The Warriors top duo and 2022 South Coast Conference champions drew the No. 2 seed for the South Region and won both of their matches on Friday. They cruised in the opening round, defeating Zeynep Aynaci and Sonya Hu of West Valley College, the No. 7 seed from the North.

In the quarterfinals, Vaefa and Jones downed Torrey Mateljan and Keeley Arendt of Riverside, the No. 6 seed from the South. The Warriors duo will face the top-seeded team from the North in the semifinals, Zoe Olmos and Julie Santiago of Chabot College.

In the singles draw, the Warriors had Jones and Danay Holman in the mix but neither could make it out of day one.

Holman was the No. 8 seed from the South and had to take on Chabot's Olmos in the first round, eventually falling 6-1, 6-1.

Jones was the No. 4 seed from the South and won her first match of the day but fell in the quarterfinals to Makayla Chassion of Monterey Peninsula College, the No. 2 seed from the North.
