Women's Soccer Ties Allen Hancock

Chalk up a tie and a no-contest for the Reedley College women's soccer team last week.

Last Friday's scheduled opponent, Merritt College of Oakland, couldn't make the trip to Reedley for an undisclosed reason. The Lady Tigers have a 1-0-1 record after battling Allan Hancock of Santa Maria to a 2-2 tie on Reedley's pitch on Aug. 31.

Denise Elias-Martinez (Kingsburg) opened the scoring at the 12-minute mark on an assist from Mariela Cruz (McLane, Fresno). It was the fourth goal of the season for the former Viking. The Bulldogs scored the next two goals before Gloria Sevilla (McLane) found the back of the net for the tying goal on an assist from Martinez in the 60th minute.

On Friday, Reedley is scheduled to travel to Aptos to face Carrillo College in a 4 p.m. match.
