Espinoza grand slam fuels Mountie Softball come-from-behind win over Riverside

(Riverside, CA) Down 6-2 through five innings, Mt. San Antonio College (6-2) posted eight runs in the top of the sixth to earn a 10-6 non-conference victory over host Riverside City College (1-5) on Friday, Feb. 10.

The Mounties' offensive explosion in the sixth was fueled by eight hits, including a grand slam homer by Janis Espinoza (2-4, 2 R, 4 RBI, 2B). Other top hitters for Mt. SAC included Desiree Bravo (3-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2B), Olivia Ortiz (3-4, R), Brianna Goris (2-4, 2B), and Mireya Amezcua (1-2, R, RBI). Asia Chacon also stole a base for Mt. SAC.

Aleyna Urbina (5-0) earned the win for the Mounties, throwing 3.2 innings of relief, allowing one run (earned), while striking out two.

Mt. SAC returns to action at home on Friday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. against Santa Ana College (2-4) in a non-conference game. The next day, Feb. 18, the Mounties will host Cypress College (5-1) for a non-conference doubleheader that begins at 3 p.m.
