PC closes out non-conference schedule with narrow loss to Cerritos

Tayshawun Bradford poured in 19 points while Kenton Lei added 17 points for Porterville College in a narrow 72-69 loss to visiting Cerritos College on Saturday to close out the Pirates' non-conference schedule.

The defeat evened up Porterville's record at 7-7 while Cerritos also moved to 7-7 overall.

It was a close battle from the opening tip off as the two squads were all tied up at 35-35 at halftime. But Cerritos outscored PC 37-34 over the final 20 minutes to pull out its win.

Porterville shot 36 percent (22 for 61) from the field for the contest, including a 5 for 10 effort from Bradford. He added 3 rebounds and 2 steals to his game-high 19 points.

Dominic King came off the bench to score 12 points. He also led PC with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Chirrag Sidhu added 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

The Pirates will have some time off until they return to the court on Jan. 8 to open Central Valley Conference play. PC will host Merced College in a 7 p.m. contest.
