Falcons take two from Feather River

Falcons take two from Feather River

Entering Tuesday's home doubleheader against Feather River, the FLC women's softball team was still in search of their first win of the 2022 season.  But the Falcons ended that search and started a winning streak with a. sweep of the Golden Eagles, 4-0 and 6-4.

The opening game was all about Falcon starter Adrianna Gonzalez, who silenced the Eagles on just three hits to earn the complete-game win. The Falcon offense did just enough to give Gonzalez some breathing room and she never gave the visitors any hope of putting together a rally.  Olivia Dominguez jump-started the Falcons with a third inning one-out double which, with the help of another double by Sachi Reyes, led to two runs in the inning,  The Falcons added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to add to their lead, then let Gonzalez finish her masterpiece.

In game two, the Falcons picked up where they left off, scoring twice in the first inning on an RBI double by Hannah Dominguez and a sacrifice fly to deep left by Haylee Reginato.  The Eagles answered back two innings later to tie the score at 2-2, but the Falcons came back with a rally of their own in the fourth.  Doubles by Sydnee Chappell and Sachi Reyes and a triple by Mikaela Pamplonacombined with an Eagle error, led to three Falcon runs for a 5-2 lead.  The Eagles managed two runs in the fifth, but that was as close as they'd get against Adrianna Gonzalez, who relieved Lilly Alvarez in the third inning. The Falcons added an insurance run in the sixth for the 6-4 win.

Now with a two-game winning streak, the Falcons (2-5) will travel to Fairfield on Thursday for an afternoon doubleheader at Solano College (0-3).
