RESILIENT CHABOT SPLITS A PAIR IN TOUGH COAST-NORTH

The Chabot men's basketball team showed its typical resolve in splitting tight road games last week.

The Gladiators fought back from a 12-point halftime deficit in a loss at Foothill, 61-60, in yet another Coast-North showdown on Jan. 24. Chabot also rallied past Ohlone 72-71 on Jan. 22, after trailing by eight at halftime against an upset-minded foe.

Against Foothill, always tough to beat at home, Chabot's Izayah Talmadge came off the bench to notch team highs with 16 points and seven rebounds. He converted a tidy 5 of 7 from the floor. Japjit Gill added 13 points, going 5 of 5 from the free throw line. Akili Daniels and Micah Webster both had eight points.

Against Ohlone, Ramaj Gordon paced Chabot with 14 points, and Akili Daniels had 12 points and eight rebounds. Talmadge added 10 points.

LOOK AHEAD: The Gladiators (13-7, 4-2) enter another tough week in seemingly a five-team fight for second place in the conference. State No. 1 CCSF (20-0, 6-0) leads the Coast-North. Chabot can take another step forward at College of San Mateo at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 in Hayward. Tipoff is 7 p.m. The Gladiators also travel to CCSF on Friday, Jan. 31.
