Mountie Women's Water Polo split four games at West Valley Invite

(Saratoga, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo team took its first road trip of the season and split four games, with two wins and two losses at the Annual West Valley Invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 16, 17.

With the four games, the Mounties improved to 3-2 overall for the season.

They opened with two wins on the first day against San Joaquin Delta (8-5) and Modesto (12-7).

That was followed by two losses on day two against the host West Valley (12-7) and Merced (8-6).

In game one against Delta, sophomore Alexis Ramirez led with three goals and Xen Allen along with Jahanna Palmer had seven and five steals, respectively.

The afternoon contest against Modesto again saw Ramirez as the goal leader with five, followed by Allen and Alyssa Fox with two each. Nature Reep led the team with four assists.

In the first game on Saturday against West Valley, Allen and Fox each scored three goals, while Ramirez and Fox had eight and five steals, respectively.

In the final game of the weekend, Allen led with three goals and Reep had two.

Sophomore goalie, Jahanna Palmer played all four games (16 periods) and stopped 45 shots, while the top goal scorer for the four games was Allen with 10 goals, while Allen and Fox scored six.

Next up for the Mounties is their second South Coast Conference game on Wednesday, September 21 at home versus East Los Angeles. Mt. SAC is 1-0 in the conference.
